Abby is a Midwesterner who moved to Utah after earning her master’s degree in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University. Abby has worked with children, youth, and families in the community for the past 3 years. She believes in strengthening the family system and working with clients to establish skills to reach their goals. Abby utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, and Family Systems therapies, among others approaches, according to the needs of her clients. Cary Shelton is an LCSW with over 30 years of experience helping individuals and families with a wide variety of mental health and relationship challenges including depression, anxiety, sexual addictions, faith crises, and grief. Alyssa then pursued her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Presbyterian College, graduating in 2021. She quickly recognized that mental health conditions are present in all healthcare specialties. Prior to working at Valley, she worked as a Patient Advocate. This allows Alyssa to have a greater understanding of the barriers individuals are facing, determinants of health, and how, as a PA, she can work to diagnose and treat her clients. Sage is a Board-Certified Physician Associate who specializes in psychiatry. He graduated from Utah State University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Movement Science and minors in Chemistry and Business. Sage then received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and graduated in 2021. Sage has experience in primary care, internal medicine, orthopedics, surgery, OB/GYN, emergency medicine, and pediatrics. Nicole is a Master’s level licensed advanced practice nurse practitioner who has been working and specializing in mental health for over 14 years. Nicole’s approach to mental health takes a holistic view of health across all aspects of the individual and family. Since adopting a sibling group of 5 children from foster care in 2011, Nicole’s particular passion is supporting individuals and families who have experienced trauma in moving through their healing journey.
She loves to work with children and adolescents and to educate people of all ages to support them in making healthcare choices in accordance with their values that will empower them to reach their full potential. Nicole has additional training and certification working in addiction which can be a cause as well as a symptom of trauma. Nicole started working in healthcare in 1997 as a home-health aid and CNA. She started her nursing career in 2007 and worked with troubled adolescents in residential care until pursuing graduate studies in 2016. Nicole received her Associates’s, Bachelors’s, and Masters’s degrees in nursing from Weber State University and has an additional Bachelor’s degree from BYU. Bailey is a Board Certified Physician Associate who has chosen to specialize in Psychiatry. She graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Promotion and Education. Bailey then pursued her Master’s of Physician Associate Studies at Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, graduating in 2021. Throughout her training she recognized the underlying mental health conditions that are prevalent in every healthcare specialty such as primary care, obstetrics/gynecology, oncology, internal medicine, etc. She quickly fell in love with the field of psychiatry. Prior to working at Valley, she worked in the operating room for over 5 years as a surgical technologist. Here she learned to advocate for patients who could not do so for themselves. She has also completed additional training specializing in psychiatry with Valley Academy and the Neuroscience Education Institute’s Master Pharmacology Program. Bailey is experienced in providing care and psychiatric services for our increasingly diverse population of all ages.
