At Highland Springs, our prescribers, providers, and/or practitioners are highly trained and skilled at diagnosing and treating behavioral health problems with medications. Every client is unique, and so is their response to medication.

Medication Treatment

Prescribed medications play a key role in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. They can reduce symptoms and prevent relapses of a psychiatric disorder. Medications can also help clients minimize cravings and maintain abstinence from addictive substances. As specialists in treating psychiatric conditions, our clinicians understand that each psychiatric medication is also unique, even when compared to other psychiatric medications in the same class.

Your brain uses proteins called neurotransmitters to send signals and instructions between its different parts. Mental health medications are designed to act as neurotransmitters to help your brain function properly. Your Highland Springs prescriber will help you decide which medications are most appropriate for you given your behavioral health needs, your other medical issues, and any medications you may be taking.
