What Is Substance Use?
Substance use is defined as a pattern of frequently abusing drugs or alcohol which ultimately, leads to a dependence on the substance. There are various types of substance abuse treatment out there such as individual and group therapy as well as other forms of behavioral therapies.
The compulsive or dangerous dependency on alcohol and/or drugs is usually the danger in this specific addiction. A person’s environment, psychological traits, and stress level are major contributors to creating dependence on the substance. A person may know that they suffer from this condition if they have the desire to change or quit, but can’t. Substance abuse addiction can affect anyone. Individuals are not at fault for having an addiction, but they are responsible for finding addiction treatment.
