Colleen Helms, LCSW

Colleen has several years of experience with treating children, youth, and families, within an outpatient and day treatment setting. She enjoys helping caregivers’ improve healthy parenting skills and families learn to use effective communication skills. Her compassionate, nonjudgmental and fun-loving nature, allows clients of all ages to feel comfortable with sharing thoughts and feelings. It is her goal to help them gain therapeutic tools for their intrapersonal toolbox so that they can handle distressful situations with resilience and experience increased well-being. Colleen’s strength-based therapeutic approach includes elements from the following therapies; ACT, DBT, CBT, TF-CBT, motivational interviewing, family systems, play therapy, art, sand tray, and mindfulness. Her professional experience includes working with individuals with ADHD, OCD, attachment disorders, mild to moderate autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, depression, self-harm, mood disorders, grief/loss, trauma, PTSD, behavioral issues, parent/child relationships, learning differences, pornography addiction, and eating disorders. Colleen received her BSW from Weber State University and her MSW from the University of Utah.
