Rick graduated from the University of Utah in 2014 with a master’s degree in social work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He has experience working with adults in outpatient, residential and inpatient settings. Rick believes a good partnership between the therapist and client is essential for healing.
Rick’s scope of practice includes mood disorders, anxiety disorders, grief & loss, trauma, substance use issues, couples therapy, ADHD, HIV/AIDS, and LGBTQ+ issues. He is a current member of the LGBTQ+ Affirmative Therapist Guild.
Rick uses researched-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, compassion-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solutions-Focused Therapy. He uses trauma-specific modalities including FLASH and narrative therapy. Rick has completed Levels 1 & 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and he uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy in his therapy work.
When Rick is not doing therapy, he enjoys spending time with his daughter, going to concerts, photography, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
